DERRICK: You already know that with my signature shoes, on the back are the three stripes. They look fast and it’s probably the last thing you see as I’m going past you.

DERRICK: The fronts of these shoes are really clean. If you don’t want to hoop, you can just put some jeans on and go out. And yes I do wear my shoes out.

DERRICK: On the side there is sprint web, which is Light material that’s breathable, flexible and strong.

DERRICK: At the back of the shoe you can see the sprint frame. So the back of your foot is locked in and you don’t go crazy or twist your ankle or anything like that.

DERRICK: On the bottom, you have this great grip on the shoe.

DERRICK: All flights are cancelled is on the tongue right here. But if you look at the insole, you see that Chicago is cleared for takeoff.

Any lighter and we'd have to paint it on. This basketball shoe was designed from the barefoot up and the results were astonishing, 9.8 ounces of pure lightweight performance.

It wasn't enough just to be the lightest ever, you've got to be strong. That was our biggest challenge, finding the materials and the structure that made the adiZero Crazy Light, super strong. The vertical and horizontal bars of the SPRINTWEB feature are truly inspired by nature. I spent months trying to find the right construction... went through more than 50 versions. One day while working from home I saw a spiderweb withstanding huge winds. It hit me right there. Light, breathable, flexible, expandable, strong...

The best compliment we got from our road testing (in 15 division 1 schools across the US) is that the players didn't want to send the shoes back. It doesn't get any better than that.

DESIGNER: Derrick is always working on his game, so we knew we had to build upon the successes of the adiZero Rose 1. Sprintskin’s strength and breathability was a key ingredient to making this shoe lighter and faster.

DERRICK: I am excited about the adiZero Rose 1.5 because it's my second signature shoe and it's even better than the original.

DESIGNER: We looked at some of the architecture in Chicago to help guide the design and styling such as the peak formed on the vamp/tip.

DERRICK: Even though I am all about performance I can see some ballers wearing these with their jeans to the mall.

DESIGNER: By directly molding a special PU compound on top of a mesh layer, we are able to create a hybrid mesh-synthetic. It’s stronger and more durable than mesh but also lighter and more breathable than synthetic.

DERRICK: I was able to wear it once during a preseason game and have been looking forward to wearing it full time ever since.

DESIGNER: The Sprintframe chassis keeps the heel in place and reduces weight by combining the midfoot Torsion plate with the heel counter. The Puremotion pods enhance the natural movement of the foot.

DERRICK: My favorite part of the shoe is how they kept the stripes on the back like on the adiZero Rose 1. That's now my trademark, all that the defenders see when I drive to the hole are stripes.

DESIGNER: The footbed profile is low to the ground benefitting fast guards and wing players. Derrick wears adiZero Speedwrap ankle braces so we inset and notched the collar so it doesn’t impede his foot when he plants and cuts.

DERRICK: It’s crazy how the designer did the contrast materials on the inside and the outside of the shoe which makes the shoe really flexible and easy to get on with my adidas adiZero Speedwrap ankle braces.

"The 'hey world' motto on the heel comes straight from Dwight's own Twitter account. Together with the 'outerspace' texture on the heel, reflecting his Super Hero image, it gives the shoe plenty of 'Beastness'."
