iHoops Adds Award-Winning Sales and Marketing Veteran Steve Hagen to Lineup
INDIANAPOLIS, November 12, 2010 – Steve Hagen, a 20-year industry veteran and former vice president and general manager of The Active Network Media and Marketing Group, was named vice president of sales of iHoops, the official youth basketball initiative of the NCAA and NBA, it was announced today by iHoops CEO Len Elmore.
"iHoops is in a period of exciting growth and development, and we are delighted to have someone of Steve's expertise join our team," said Elmore. "His outstanding reputation and proven track record developing winning partnerships is a major asset to iHoops' future growth and will contribute greatly to our efforts to improve the quality of youth basketball."
In his new role, Hagen will direct iHoops' vigorous sales and marketing efforts, including the creation, development and management of innovative programming and promotions for new and existing partners such as adidas, NIKE and Right Guard. He will also develop and oversee partner activation on iHoops.com, the award-winning resource for youth basketball players, parents, coaches, officials, teams and event organizers. Hagen will report directly to Elmore.

As VP/GM of The Active Network Media and Marketing Group from 2006-10, Hagen led the company's youth sports sales strategy and engineered a series of strategic sales and marketing partnerships with Fortune 500 companies including with Bank of America, Starbucks, Dell, Gillette and Westin Hotels and Resorts, among other top brands, while year after year delivering successful sales results delivering integrated marketing programs and innovative promotions.
Prior to joining Active, Hagen held several senior level executive positions with Reebok from 1989-2006 including vice president of field sales apparel, team and specialty for Reebok International and previously was recognized with the "Global Outstanding Marketing" award as senior director of marketing for Reebok North America. Some of his achievements include partnering with Jeep on the "Collegiate Health and Fitness Tour," the creation of Reebok's "Take an Athlete to School" program, the NBA's "Rhythm and Rims" mobile tour, his work on Reebok's sponsorship activation during the 1996 Summer Olympics and other national promotions with the NBA, NFL, MLB and in tennis, running and soccer.
Jointly established by the NCAA and NBA in 2009, iHoops is committed to providing a structure and creating programs to improve the quality of youth basketball in the United States to enhance the athletic, educational and social experience for the sport's millions of participants. iHoops offers several participation programs for players ages 6 to 18, parents, coaches, officials, youth teams and event organizers. Founding partners include Nike, adidas, Right Guard and Spalding. Additionally, as part of iHoops' goal to unify the game's stakeholders, new partnerships were formed with USA Basketball, the Amateur Athletic Union and the National Federation of State High Schools, among others, to further support educational and basketball programming efforts.
